Thanks for the advice about the business...thinking of setting up a company with my son or buying the biked privately... Current shopping list is a Ducati 996 SPS Foggy rep currently negotiating) the Exup, and the first blade...I think these will all be good investments and just as importantly...

    VAT payment

I stand corrected...you're right Sockpuppet. I used to do (a) and was told to do (c) when i got a vat inspection...but (b) would be fine also. Good spot.

    Child Support / Maintenance

Not quite as simple as this in all cases. I pay maintenance based on my old premie salary which is about £750 per month. God knows what it would be if it was based on my company divi's...at least 5 times that I think. I gave her the house (fully paid for) and everything in it (and on the...

First time contractor - advice please!

My accountant (Darren Upton from Upton & Co) gave me some advice on here which made me choose him and it's stuck with me whenever I've considered being more tax efficient than maybe I should... ...a load of money can buy you a nice bed, but it won't buy you a good nights sleep... Probably...

    VAT payment

A tip when doing Vat is to make sure you do it right on expenses. A lot of people don't charge vat on top of expenses that include vat already. For instance, if a hotel costs you £100 + £20 VAT, you should be charging your clients £120 + Vat (£144). Lots of people get pulledbup on this on vat...

    Dump-o-meter

We had a choice in the office today...talk about the political situation or talk about crap...we decided that it was the same thing but ultimately proper crap won! Download an iPhone App called Dump-o-meter and be sure to have a fun day in the office...it's especially good for upsetting the...

    Good old Jeremy

Come on Old Greg, you are surely not kidding yourself that we have a genuine choice as to who our government is and that its a true democracy are you?? Thats like being offered the choice of being shot or strangled...my choice would be neither but that is not an option...

    Data Protection

Hi all If I gave my laptop to someone to set something up for me, and they go into other areas and take copies of emails without my permission (although equally I didn't tell them that they couldn't)...is that against the law or is it just a bit naughty...i.e. can I prosecute them? Vito

    Helicopter pilot

Thanks...but as mad as this sounds, I'm terrified of planes!!! Helicopters I undertand the whole concept and how they work...planes I just can't get my head round...the more I look at them, the more I am convinced it is not possible for them to fly and then do a controlled landing!
