How long should should I wait to take them to to the small claims court and do I have

I this case I don't think it matters how much (or little) attempt has been made to collect the debt The Director has said that he wont pay and given a reason. No amount of extra attempts at sending letters is going to change that. The issue that needs to be sorted is "is the director's reason...

    data breach

Oh come on live "real person" data as samples in project documentation, and you think that the use of that data by project personnel could be a breach of "data protection" by that user? As before, if that data were there, then it would be there intending it to be used by project personnel...

    data breach

Sorry, but the people to whom I responded were talking about the piffly data protection act tim

    data breach

So what you are saying is that someone (working on a specific project) has (may have) taken some project specific documents which just happen to contain the name, address and phone numbers (any other personal details) of other people working on that same project, and that act is a data breach...

    data breach

we don't know that it's a breach of contract, I agree It might be that it isn't even that. But we do know that it isn't a data protection issue, because we have been told the nature of the data. It isn't personal data and is therefore is not protected by the act. tim

so then the OP should want to be paid in Euro I have done 8 gigs in Europe (and one in China as the rep of a European company) and all but the first was paid in Euro (and one wasn't even in the Euro zone!). And for the first I was royally ripped off because the agency gave me a lowball pound...

    winding up my company

to answer some points: Of course it is money-boxing, but as stated by a PP the change in the rules this year have not clamped down on that, only phoenixing. And as I have been running my LtdCo for 32 years and the sum in question amounts to approx 1K for each year of operation, it's hardly...

Working for minus £400 in March

and I thought the £32/h that is commonly offered for embedded work outside of the "silicon valley" hotspots was bad :frown FWIW that's the same rate as I was being offered in 96. tim

Should I accept payment in EUR or GBP

Because they are being paid in Euro and, as they are only a middleman, don't see why it is they who should take the currency risk. Most agencies think this way.

    winding up my company

OK So this only works for distributing the funds remaining after declaring a dividend/salary of (approx.) 40K, because that is the amount which uses up my 20% band. The rest I pay 0/10% CGT on instead of 40% tax. thanks tim

    winding up my company

After 30 years contracting I am looking on getting out I have been working this year an have accumulated a significant balance in my bank account I (sort of) understood that I could wind up my company, converting this balance to a capital gain and claim entrepreneurs to result in a 10% tax...
