New to contracting...
How many roles did the agent send your CV out for? I've had six sent out in the last few of weeks and only got one interview. I wouldn't relie on the agent calling you back either. Apply for a job and then follow up with a phone call you might get a few more hits.- sumo

High frequency, low latency Java
Wouldn't you you might need some experience with this sort of thing before you can get a contract doing it? Anyway, I couldn't find any books but a search came up with a bunch of papers and some frameworks. -

I've just been offered a permie Enterprise Architect role for £80K no bonus. I've done a quick scan of the job boards and spoken to someone who recently took a permie architect job, and it looks like the norm is 80K + bonus (could be 1% but at least it is there!). I haven't got specific EA... -

What the hell is up with the market (or is it just me)
I've been off since the NY though only been looking for a month I've had a few of these over the last month. Client interested in my CV, wants to talk but then nothing for weeks. Agents swear roles are still open. LOTS of permie roles coming my way though...- sumo

Contract to perm thoughts
I just came out of two perm jobs that went bad. I would seriously think hard about whether the career benefits are actually all that they are made up to be. Could you just not do the new job or aspects of the new job as a contractor? Maybe it is time to become a freelance consultant and tell...- sumo
