i have two opportunities currently - one inside IR35 role and one outside IR35 role. My idea is to try and run them in parallel, workload and deadlines permitting etc of course. I would be through an umbrella for the inside one and my own PSC for the outside one.
I am assuming the inside gig...
i guess any employer would do that if they don't have the P45 from the previous employment. Although why there isn't another way to ascertain the tax code from HMRC themselves I have no idea. They could just go hey HMRC this NI number person works here now, and they could go cool, here is the...
i'm just after a contractor-aware accountant to do self assessment prep please. I'm currently inside and have a few spends i wanted to allow against tax, but nothing mega complex. Thanks
well monday it will all become clear how smoothly this has happened when it comes to pay, but the rest of it has been a farce. I felt repeatedly caught in the middle where parasol was kicking off to me that PSR hadn't told them things or done something. The PSR lady saddled with sorting it all...
agreed. I actually like Parasol, and despite somehow falling out with PSR/AMS they had a special margin deal that was really very reasonable. I'd far rather stick with them! They did seem to roll over too easily, but I wonder if the arguments were all going on for months prior.
also i can see on reddit someone posting 2 years ago that an agency that sounds basically like PSR pushing them to change umbrella to one of a preferred list. Totally different ones than this time however Giant is on there so I am sure it is PSR. If this is a con trick they pull regularly they...
well yes it is PSR, and the umbrella i am using is parasol. PSR came back saying this change is mandatory. Just absolutely enraging.
Every inside gig i've done has been mountains of hassle. I genuinely thought the one thing the inside model gives as a benefit is reduced hassle, but it doesn't...
sure i have raised it already. They weirdly kind of agreed (or are resigned to) the idea that the agencies are in control of whatever they deem an approved umbrella list, and if they aren't on it, they aren't on it. However, they did indicate that even if this were the case, i could still push...
i seriously doubt my current umbrella is non-compliant; they're basically the one everyone thinks of first when you say the words 'umbrella company'.
If HMRC are chasing the shady umbrella firms that are using loan schemes to minimise tax liability then fine, but my one is 100% not on that...
got a weird message from my agency yesterday, saying that "because of new government regulations" they are reducing their approved umbrellas list, and so as my current umbrella isn't on this new list, I will need to change to one of their approved ones. Now my current one is one of the larger...
