Apparently they remade 11 of the 12 episodes. One was... overlooked. Pity, because it's got so many great non-WWII jokes as well, like the fire drill.

It's better than any of the three(!) American copies... I don't agree that it HAS to be worthless. (And the comments section there is mixed, by the way.) The reason it might have worked is that Germans are kind of stiffly neurotic, sort of unrelaxed. But so is Basil, isn't he, so that might...

Well John Cleese liked it. Apparently he even appears in one of the unaired episodes. Only 1 ep was ever shown. And even that is completely and totally impossible to find now. :(
