    Between 2 agencies - shenanigans

The market in Oxon/Berkshire is a bit pants - London is booming. But I'd rather work locally than spend (waste) 4 hours a day travelling. Yup, lawyer consulted, possible losses estimated, but still trying to get company X and agency A talk some sense into these guys.

    Between 2 agencies - shenanigans

Probably 'cos I'm stupid and straightforward, didn't want to "cheat" agency A who got me the offer in the first place

    Between 2 agencies - shenanigans

'm in a bit of a pickle, possibly serious, and would need some opinion PLEASE. Company X was looking for a contractor a year ago, I was put forward for the role by agency A. They liked me, but I went to work somewhere else. Three weeks ago company X was looking again, and agency A got me the...

Both, permament contract and... limited company or self empleeed?

Cześć Michał. From reading my previous permanent contracts you're basically a slave to the company that employs you. This includes in some cases giving them rights to the stuff you do at evenings. It's basically a very binding contract, making sure you live for the company. However - some...

Vector Resourcing - Any experience of them?

I only had one contract with them (with an extension) for a public sector client in London (back in 2008), no issues to report.

    State of .Net Market

True, it was my first BAD VB.Net code I saw (no design patterns, or "tiers" at all!) :) The alternative was to improve their business processes and working practices, all the while delivering new functionality on a crap codebase, against tight deadlines. If the rate was 1.5x what it was I'd...

    State of .Net Market

The 6 monther turned out to be at a company which had ZERO good devs, coding standards completely appaling, and all code in VB.Net - although they were up for mixing C# and VB.Net code. Which would make things worse :) I bailed after a few days, but the market is reeeeeallly quiet. However -...

    State of .Net Market

It's only immediately this week, and I started looking at 1st Feb - hence many dead ends (we want someone to start next week etc.) 5+ years .Net experience, 12 years total web dev experience, not willing to go to London ;) Anyway, a nice 6-monther starts on Monday :D

    State of .Net Market

.Net .Net I was looking in Oxfordshire/Berkshire areas since 1st Jan, and things were veeeeeeeeeeeery slow. Out of ~30 matches on jobserve per week only 1/3 of them were relevant (ASP.Net and C#). Quite active on the phone front, supposedly put forward to a number of roles - but since the...

market barometer - post if interviewing

When was that? I started looking in August and failed to find anything in 7 weeks and went permie, as it was a shame to eat into savings. Still, it Pays the bills :-/ [C# Asp.Net / London / Kent]

market barometer - post if interviewing

    bump any updates?
  13. Q

    "What is your rate?"

Yup, looking actively for C# roles in London/Kent/Essex/Sussex/Surrey and only had 1 interview in 7 weeks, 45 miles drive from home :-/ Unfortunately unsuccessful :-( Third week on the bench now, even dropping the rate by 40% doesn't seem to generate much interest :-/

    Time to stock up...

Yup, I confirm that - C# Asp.Net market in London is now officially dead. Started looking at 1st of August and only had one interview - with an agency... I have to confess to rejecting few interviews on grounds of small rates, in the recent week not even small rates are on offer. On a funny...
