Did you see this thread HMRC chasing my closed Ltd for Class 1 NI that should've been sent from umbrella - Contractor UK Bulletin Board
(Note the heading should've been Tax & NIC)
Does your letter mention the term "Specified Charges" ?
If it does then that's a good sign. Like Maslins...
No good :(
They've said because the company is dissolved, they can't discuss anything over the phone (even tell me whether the letter is genuine) and that I'll have to write in.
Accountant says that the phone number is genuine (I won't risk it!!), it's just not listed on their website...
People on those websites say various other typos/clues they've seen that indicate to them that it's a fraud.

I've received a brown envelope this morning (addressed to old Ltd)
My Ltd ceased to exist April 2020 and last traded October 2019.
I've been using an umbrella since October 2020 (was on the bench for the 12 months in between)
The letter is chasing my closed Ltd for Class 1 NIC that were payable...
This company I've been offered a contract with don't want to make you use umbrellas and so offer you a contract of employment at contractor rates.......which all sounds like how it should be instead of messing with umbrellas.
I'm just a bit surprised/wary about their entitlement if they feel...
Apologies for hijacking this thread, but what Lucy said is how I thought it works and gives me yet another reason to moan about my umbrella.
Until now I have got paid the day after Umbrella have received the funds and they still state this on their promotions. But suddenly they’ve decided they...
