    Expensing multiple laptops

Yea exactly! It's not about me expensing or writing off multiple laptops to gain the system, give them away, etc. I wanted to know simply what would happen if I were to expense my work laptop now but later decided to upgrade and wanted to convert this one back to personal needs, or sell it on...

    Expensing multiple laptops

How is it cheeky if I literally need this poor laptop for my work and (like suggested by the other), I expense it at a fair market value, then some time later decide I need to upgrade to a better one for work, so sell this one back to myself at a fair market value so I can use it personally...

    Expensing multiple laptops

Well, I already switched some time ago, but every new accountant seems to forget about you with time. Also it got a lot more difficult to get in contact with them after COVID happened. Dread having to go through this again :D

    Expensing multiple laptops

northernlad and yourself have essentially said the same thing and have helped me clear the ambiguity around this, so thanks! My machine is a Lenovo Ideapad 5 Pro 16ACH6, cost me around £850 last November I've started this assignment in February so probably around £750 second hand by then So...

    Expensing multiple laptops

No just that my accountant is always hard to reach by phone and they don't reply in a lot of detail by email. That has made it a lot clear, thanks. I have heard some time ago that computers are subject to a 3 year depreciation rule, and I still have my old 4-year old laptop I've expensed back...

    Expensing multiple laptops

Well ok, I got slightly ahead of myself for the sake of simplicity. I was going to expense it in the coming days (since I need to start filling in my self-assessment for 2021-22) It was bought last November, not a particularly expensive one, I think it was around £850 It didn't occur to me that...

    Expensing multiple laptops

That makes sense about buying at a fair market value (since the laptop has been bought some time ago and initially for personal use). It makes sense being able to expense as many laptops as needed for work, but what if I convert my previous one back to personal use though?

    Expensing multiple laptops

Forgive me if this has been answered somewhere already, but I can't seem to find the answer to this particular question. I'm working on a new IT contract outside IR35 They've asked me to provide my own computer equipment so I've converted my personal laptop into a work one. My question is how...

Claiming expenses through PSC whilst working through Umbrella

Thanks for all the advice. Didn't realise it would spur so much discussion. It makes sense to only do some basic expensing if you absolutely need it for the business and wait till trading through the company for anything fancier, so I will behave myself. I have a friend though who was planning...

Claiming expenses through PSC whilst working through Umbrella

Actually there was a clause about being able to substitute myself and some other things I don't remember exactly without looking at it again.

Claiming expenses through PSC whilst working through Umbrella

I was actually surprised they've asessed it inside because so far it's been an all-remote job without set workhours and some freedom as to what assignments I work on. There wasn't any strong indication in favour of being inside when I was reading the contract. I know many are stressing about...

Claiming expenses through PSC whilst working through Umbrella

Thanks for those more detailed useful thoughts! I did realise I'm stretching it but was just curious. I think there's no point overthinking it as you're right it doesn't make sense to be expensing IT or other equipment when you'r not actually spendimg much time working through the company so...

Claiming expenses through PSC whilst working through Umbrella

Hi there. I was unfortunately classified to fall inside IR35 only a month after my start date on this new assignment, so will now have to switch to an Umbrella. I very much wish to continue working through my PSC, maybe straight after this assignment ends, so planning to keep it active...

    6 April deadline

Hey, I already switched accountants half-a-year ago, and these ones have been recommended to me by a workmate, they're cheaper, and I sometimes see their ads on this forum. Cater Allen, yes....although I can live with 1.5-day transfers. Who knows how long I'll stay contracting now days.

    6 April deadline

Thanks everyone! I got hold of my accountant after 6 April and he reassured me that all the dividends I declare are meant to be interim anyway, as it's a more flexible approach (and that final dividends would not be in respect to 6 Apr anyway, but rather to the company's yearend date). That...
