Thanks.
It is a fixed term contract there.
The client is really sound, this role in Singa was dead in the water and unfortunately came around again after taking the contract. I only took it as i did not get the role there.
I do see your point, it does not sit well to leave so early on...
Payment terms are one week as is notice period.
Contract is for 3 months.
Yes i imagine that the agent will be extremely p1ssed off. Could not care less about him as he has treated me like tulip from day 1 with all of his lies.
Hi,
Having just set up my LTD and begun contracting for a few weeks i awoke this morning to find out that i have been ofered a perm job overseas in singapore. Did the final interview yesterday but did not think i would get it.
Having always wanted to work overseas i am inclined to take it.
I...
If you have a 2 week notice period and you are really unhappy then serve your notice and state reasons why.
Being contracted for a length of time does not mean it must be served. It's not a prison sentence.
Maybe chat with them about your reasons for being unhappy, a lot of the time...
From someone who has just turned to contracting.
I wanted to get out of being a permie as I was working at an software engineering consultancy. We had to work anywhere we were sent, long hours and improve our skills in our own time. We then demonstrate these skills to client or other...
Ok quite a lot to digest here.
I am reading the amended contract now.
The statement of assignment refers to my LTD as the 'Consultancy', myself as the representative and the nature of consultancy as 'Lead UI developer'.
I assume this is ok as the nature of my LTD is consultancy?
I recall a...
Looks like the agency has crumbled and are going to speak to QDOS to get the contract amended more favourably in terms of the substitution clause.
:happy
I emailed the client the situation with the contract review and he was perfectly reasonable as one would expect. He gave no indication of going anywhere else so have every reason to believe the agent is talking complete tulip :)
I look forward to playing hard-ball over the contract when it...
I have sent contracts off for review via QDOS.
The agent emailed me to ask why I was not on site this morning; I did not say that I would be and made it clear I would not go on site without an agreed contract.
I have now been told that they need a decision by EOP tomorrow or the client may go...
I would do if I had contact details for them.
I may be up for a different role with the same client with a different agency anyway.
I consider this to be one of many new lessons learned about contracting so feel more confident to ask the correct questions and view relevant documents up front...
I have been reviewing the contract and it explicitly refers to an "Assignment Confirmation Letter" which has not been supplied alongside the contract.
It seems very odd to not supply something that is referred to in such a document so will raise this tomorrow. Having done some research on here...
I see nothing wrong with sending all signed documentation (barring the contract) via email in light of producing my passport at a later date.
I would be interested to see if they try to 'bait and switch' the contract when they realise that I have decided to opt in against their advice.
Agreed...
Thanks all for the many helpful responses.
I have decided not to go to the agency until the contract has been reviewed and finalised.
Will draft an email later informing him of my decision to opt in and that I will happily present my ID on successful review of the contract by Qdos or...
Having read a lot of posts here i am glad that i did.
I have just secured my first contract via my limited company and have had a few issues with the agent. After the client delayed proceedings for almost two weeks with decision making and 'red-tape' i am now being rushed into signing...
