Social Value Consultation - Public Sector SMEs please read

Cabinet Office and DCMS are running a consultation on how they might better implement social value in public sector contracting. I know that many of you will be sceptical but it's worth a try as it might help to level the playing field a bit, otherwise they'll continue to think that the only...

    Petition Against IR35

You Guys... You Guys... The OP has good intentions, no need to rip into him/her. There was this other petition which, I think, had the right sort of idea but got rejected anyway.

Why are HMRC killing UK SMEs? To help fund US Corporations?

Ermm okay.... Ermm okay.... ok, fair point, perhaps not plenty [!] but rather than kicking UK SMEs (which includes many of us on this forum), how about challenging this sort of behaviour? The following video is a bit dramatic but simply/clearly illustrates the damage being done by corporate...

Why are HMRC killing UK SMEs? To help fund US Corporations?

Agree but.. Agree but.. I agree that nobody can compete with the big US corporations but not because of the investment needed, there are plenty of excellent UK cloud providers that could compete but there seems to be something much darker going on...

Why are HMRC killing UK SMEs? To help fund US Corporations?

Interesting article in the Register today: https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/10/24/datacentred_went_under_due_to_hmrc_move_to_amazon/ Rapid recovery after Brexit is going to be so much harder if our own public sector can't even work out how to buy from innovative UK SMEs that pay UK taxes and...

HMRC accused of suppressing opinions shared in IR35 Forum minutes

I see your point but it is still such a shame that HMRC continue targeting the small guys, strangling innovation and entrepreneurship in the process, whilst letting the big corporations avoid their responsibilities. This is so important if we are to have any chance of a rapid recovery from...

HMRC accused of suppressing opinions shared in IR35 Forum minutes

Dunno about you guys but I'm seeing the posts vacated by contractors being filled by big-brand (mega-expensive) suppliers. This may be masking the true impact of new IR35 regs, although (hopefully) the effect of swapping ~£400p.d. people for ~£1500 p.d. people should start to be felt soon.

    HMRC propaganda

Oh boohoo! Those nasty little contractors!.... What about the global corporations scamming us out of £119Bn per year in tax revenue? HMRC isn't doing anything about that because they know that legislation won't work, only a cuture change* would do it and that is just too difficult, so let's...

Cognitive Bias? Cognitive Bias? I'm not saying you're wrong but, please, for the sake of your heart, consider the possibility that cryptocurrencies might be one of the new technologies that pushes us into the next Kondratiev Wave. Many of us have chosen to speculate and, if we're wrong, we...

FairCoin FairCoin Has anyone any positive/negative experience of fair-coin.org ? I like the ethical/environmental concepts in the white paper and (with my hippy wig on) would love to see this succeed to help social enterprises but am wary of it as a relatively new initiative.
