    Bank account with bad credit

Natwest are a good place to start, they are one of the few who plainly advertise. RBS used to be helpful, the deals move I think, try the startup forums I suppose. The small credit unions used to be helpful to guys like the OP if they are members already. Semitic banks and islamic banks are both...

    Bank account with bad credit

Pretty much all banks have the option to give you a basic bank account regardless of credit history, although it's extremely rare they advertise them. Often staff will not know they can use a different form, so ask for the manger. You mostly need to apply in person and apply for the basic...

Do you earn a lot but chose to work through an umbrella?

EscapeUK – I’ll be careful with my words to make sure this isn’t personal so as not to upset moderators and your mates. You came into this thread and set up a false dichotomy which is inherently wrong – the fact that a spread of options exist to match a spread of personal requirements is not up...

Do you earn a lot but chose to work through an umbrella?

ITT: Original question: So a fair question on why someone might accept a lower retention that the theoretical legal max. Followed by some good general points from people, and a good post from Chef adding more potential insights. Then my simple post: Not at all suggesting that you don’t...

Do you earn a lot but chose to work through an umbrella?

Wut? I didn't put up any sums. The really super experienced guy who would know as he has amassed over 4 solid years in the seat, including over a year with an umbrella company, put up the apparently in depth detailed analysis of my finances... I don't know why they bother keeping this forum...

Do you earn a lot but chose to work through an umbrella?

It’s probably a few grand a year. No real way of being accurate as running through a brolly is absolute whereas you can’t lock down a ltd co to a set retention figure so easily.

Do you earn a lot but chose to work through an umbrella?

Yeah, I'm on a high rate and choose to run through an umbrella. There are many small reasons but the only one that matters is that the difference in income is less than I consider the additional work to be. I don't begrudge them their fees at all, I'm happy to pay it for the entirely stress free...

    Negotiating Payment Terms

I don't think it's at all wise to be dishonest about conditions to start a negotiation. If you have reasons (insurance or anything else) why those terms are unacceptable simply say they are unworkable. I wouldn't work on terms that long, it's unfair. I'd either walk away or request they cover...

Working slowly to justify your position

We know all we need to know - you've a face like a bag of smashed crabs, you smell like bigfoot's dick and your work ethic sucks balls. Seriously though, work to the best of your ability and ride a good reputation into a more engaging career. These small mindless games are a poor show and a...

Working slowly to justify your position

^ this. Seeing the old contractor cliches come out on here is a poor reflection on the industry, although nice to see the good guys talking sense.

Working slowly to justify your position

Pathetic behavior. Do you not hope for something more from life and your career?

    Financing a Plan B

If you are expecting loss or intend to engineer it into a plan, a holding company arrangement can be very attractive with 51% ownership to lessen tax on the currently profitable area.

    Contract negotiation

this really. Be polite and profesional through the interview process, but play your cards close to your chest. Once an offer is made and you have a better idea on the conditions it is the proper time to firmly negotiate payment and additional conditions.

    plenty of bobs from here

Next time leave my beers in the fridge alone! That was not in the contract! Typical agent. Is your 1500% cut not enough? Still, Progressive are worse.
