Employers NI, In or Out of rate?

Most likely that’s what I’m going to do long term. At least I get three months salary as a redundancy package

Employers NI, In or Out of rate?

I wish. Looks more like 50% from my workings. Guess it depends on the day rate.

Employers NI, In or Out of rate?

Yeah that makes sense - trying to work out my take home pay from a contract via an umbrella is a bloody nightmare.

Employers NI, In or Out of rate?

I am asking in principle, I am being made redundant and will go back to contracting, sadly inside, probably in November or January.

Employers NI, In or Out of rate?

I’ve spoken to a few friends who work in the public sector saying their rates were bumped up when the changes were made there a few years ago to cover that, so the chances are that public sector roles have the NI covered by the employer outside of the rate?

Employers NI, In or Out of rate?

I went perm in February on a good salary with a good firm. Sadly I just found out that I’m being made redundant as part of a restructure. After contracting for 20yrs previously, I’d not worked inside IR35, but will likely be forced to do so in the new world post my redundancy in November...

    The end

So, that's that then I guess. No more contracting, unless we can fight it as a group and gain enough traction with Tory MPs to stop it by 2020. Not much chance of that, but you have to try. Won't somebody think of the accountants?

Sick pay and holiday pay - how much damage would that do to the market?

Thing is, you shouldn’t be paying the NI at all, legal challenges are mounting on this, and that’s where the client will start to squirm. NI on a day rate is a big chunk. Hence, sadly, I’m expecting an April 2019 start, it means less time for business to really understand what’s being proposed.

    IR35 Forum Minutes from December

Fully expect a huge number of Ltd companies closing, with IR35 history disappearing with the dissolution, especially as HMRC won't have the resources to appeal each closure. I'd shut down and start again if you don't have much in your Ltd once it's announced.

    So what now?

Not so fast If the rules are in the Public and the Private sector then there is no chance rates will increase. Why would they? Maybe if there is a huge drop in people willing to be contractors, but I think most roles will get filled with FTCs. Rates may go up by £50 on a £500pd role. There...

    So what now?

That's my experience - however, I'd like to know what the value of the contract reviews are. I have one that categorically states I am outside of IR35, based on working practices and contract. So - why is Hector ignoring them then ?

    So what now?

Contracting doesn't exist in other countries - that's why London is full of young Anzacs and Aussies on a three year working holiday. I cannot see the full public sector IR35 changes being implemented in the private sector, there will have to be some leeway and maybe some movement over...

    So what now?

"Therefore the government will carefully consult on how to tackle non-compliance in the private sector, drawing on the experience of the public sector reforms, including through external research already commissioned by the government and due to be published in 2018" So there we have it - a...

November 22nd - The death of contracting as we know it

Yep I was posting as you were so we crossed. As Blackadder once said, I think the phrase rhymes with clucking bell.

November 22nd - The death of contracting as we know it

IPSE are tweeting that there will be a consultation on IR35 in the private sector in 2018.
