Man I wish I could attach an excel sheet as an example....it would clearly show what I am trying to do.
The way the labels are printed they need to be in this format...no way around it.
Yep. And that's ok because all the cells I am merging are of the same value. That's the formatting I need...
Umm sorry I think I need to clarify a bit further. Say you start with the below table...starting with 1 = A1, a = B1 etc...
The table will be sorted by column A.
1 a
1 b
1 c
2 d
2 e
3 f
3 g
3 h
The solution will search column A.
1. Select cells A1-A3.
2. Merge and Centre.
3. Select cells...
Exactly right ....
I see what you mean on not logical. After the merge has happened I want to align the text (in your example 0, 1 and 2) in the centre of the merged cell. That should be easy.
Tried a pivot table and also exporting to Excel from Access but still couldn't get there.
I am by no means an Excel pro so maybe someone out there can help me.
I want to transform the table below from (a and b are columns)...
ab
13
14
15
26
27
28
to this by selecting each section and merging...the "-" are blank cells by the way.

Now I know I can...
If your company and director has not opted out then you are automatically opted in...doesn't matter what the contract says.
Once you have started the contract you cannot opt out.
Opting in or out has no impact on your IR35 status. It your contract terms and what you actually do on the job that puts you inside IR35 or not.
As you can tell (with the comment above) this topic has been covered to death on this forum and a quick search will lead you to quite a few threads...
Stick to your guns and go with your Ltd Co. You are perfectly within your rights to operate a Ltd Co and don't let the agent tell you otherwise (remaining professional of course).
The VAT registration does NOT have to be in place before the contract starts. You can invoice for the owing VAT when your ltd co gets registered.
With regards to the references. Have you opted in or out of the agency regulations? Legally that agency has to confirm references if you opted in to...
Just had a chat to the PCG Legal Helpline on this issue and they said....(basically it's what boredsenseless posted).
If it is the ltd co providing the service (i.e. it is the ltd co name on the contact not your name)?
You are the employee of that ltd co provides the service.
If the client...
Brief description here. Also google "VAT Flat Rate Scheme" which will deliver more than a few explanations.

Talk to your accountant to see if it fits with you....
Interesting...I would have assumed that there would have been some method/structure of seperating business assets and personal assets.
If from what your saying is true Tim I wonder how many contractors out there actually realise (or have even thought about) that if they are sued they could lose...
If you commit Professional Negligence then is this where PI insurance kicks in? But of course this has limits on the amount insured.
How do you make sure your personal assets stay out of it....in NZ it is common for family homes etc... to be in a trust.
