Yeah, normally these accountants are pretty spot on, so I'm going to put this down to them having a bad hair day. Interesting that you link it to inheritance tax as it was the section after that on the guide, so not something that is relevant to me.
Thanks all, yes you are right, it is a fairly straightforward question which is why I was thrown slightly when my accountant said that they weren't able to answer it. Sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees when you start looking into this sort of thing, so thank you for your clarity of...
Hi all,
My accountants sent me an end of year Tax Guide and it discussed gifting things like regular school fees and regular savings for under 18s. I pay both of these and wondered whether I can pay them through my Ltd company to offset against tax?
I tried asking my accountants and they...
Nice to hear that others are having the same issue. It is very frustrating to try and find things to do to keep busy. The project I am currently on has just been delayed for 3 months and nobody knows what's happening. We are trying to keep ourselves busy and I am setting up as many meetings...
I have a Xiaomi Mi which is a couple of years old and holding steady. You have to get used to the very heavily skinned andoid launcher that Xiaomi put on their phones called MIUI, but I actually like MIUI so am happy to stay with it.
I've also had similar for contracts, both inside and outside IR35, and perm roles. Use your own laptop to attend as many meetings as a guest as you can. Read docs, chase whoever you can. The important bit is to cover your back to make sure you have done everything reasonably possible. In...
I tried one a local quack a while back and blogged about it here: https://anothermigraine.blogspot.com/search?q=allergy. It had very questionable results.
I have also had a York Test (https://anothermigraine.blogspot.com/search?q=york) which was equally as useless, but maybe that's just me.
I've been in and out of forums for decades so I know how they work. I'm not the "forum rage" type as life's too short and the banter is good to break up the day and if you're careful you might actually pick up a tip or two, even from the general forum.
Anyhoo, job done. I had a vent, got it...
Maybe because I am trying to convince myself that I am not in a lonely oasis of doom.
However... Start of day two and I've moved on from the day one arggg moment. People to see, meetings to set up, documents to read... all good. Doesn't mean that I suddenly like day one of a new contract...
Defo keep lots of lists. Names, projects, locations, roles etc. I need to do that as I have a genuine blind spot for names so when I'm in the office I draw a mini-map and write who sits where. It all helps to build the picture up and stops you asking dumb questions that someone has already...
Who sees people nowadays? It's all Teams (at least I don't need to remember names that way as they show on screen). Defo harder on teams as those quiet moments can't be filled at the water cooler.
Well remembered! This role has launched me into the world of outside IR35 so it is a big learning curve for me, but bring it on!!! I have loved setting up my Ltd co and learning what you can and can't claim (with the help of Gorilla which I remember reading that you also use as do a couple of...
