Development Server Setup
It said something about not supporting 64bit OSs when I tried (admittedly it was little while ago).. Ah well, I have Workstation and it works a treat.. -

Ditto - last day here too and nothing on JS for at least a month.. Oh well, time for some time with the kids and work on Plan B.. -

I tried VirtualBox and it worked okay, except for the fact that it doesn't support 64bit guests (on a 64bit host).. I use VMWare Workstation.. -
Pop3 & SMTP setup on Demon
Which 3G provider? If it's 3, then use port 587 for the SMTP port and Demon's SMTP stuff. On Vodafone, you can use send.vodafone.net as the SMTP server, I believe.. No idea on the others.. -

Are you using a Demon connection? If not, it may require that you send authentication information to the SMTP server. If you are using a Demon connection, what is the error you are getting? -

Plans for the weekend
BBQ at ours on Saturday afternoon (Beer Butt Chicken!!!) and a BBQ at a friends on Sunday.. Not particularly exciting, but the kids will have fun at least.. -

I always refuse on the grounds that the agent (and no one from the agency) knows what I look like.. I could just scan a friends passport, make the appropriate changes and send that on. What I do do, however, is send a letter on MyCo stationary which states that MyCo has done all due diligence...- KevinS

Buying a franchise
My father did this once.. Said he'd never do it again.. It's not that he wasn't busy, but the franchise fees (along with the 'you have to buy the products from us' rule) left very little margin at the end of the month.. Let's just say he ended up being a little 'inventive' as to his sales...- KevinS

salary vs contracting rate comparison
I'd bin the car/fuel card as that is for employees and push the rate up to compensate for using my own vehicle..- KevinS
