another update .... apparently I didn't listen to my wife (didn't think that was part of the marriage contract) ... apparently she will get a deferral for submitting the return ... 3months + 1 week for some reason.
If it is at all possible, I will attempt to complete before the 31st Jan ...
Just to update... I called the HMRC, they told me to "s*d off", as I can't talk to them about my spouses circumstance (fair enough) ... my wife called and they said she would need to (based on 'investment income')
They said here UTR would arrive in January .... didn't mention any deferred...
??? they clearly don't think she owes anything, as they didn't send her a form ... I'm struggling a bit, as I'm not a tax expert.. doesn't make sense to me if they don't think she needs to, and we don't think she would be liable for any additional tax... lots of paperwork for no benefit (I...
Yes, seen that, but doesn't really answer my question (or perhaps I don;t understand the HMRC lingo).
Is it MANDATORY to complete the self assessment, if we believe there is nothing owed?
My concern is that there might not be time to get registered for self assessment and then on-line nonsense...

She has a low paid job (park time) and is a shareholder in my company (not director) ..
job is <£10k, dividends is <£15k
As I understand it, this is well below any threshold... but does any know if she will need...

So, Please can anyone offer their advice to my (perhaps) daft...
what 'box' did you tick ... is that on the SA form, or something else?
I'm getting the impression a IT contractor will always fall into the hmrc definition of 'service company' ... so I guess my main quesition to anyone who has completed their own SA before is
... do I declare my dividends in...
I've no idea what a 'PCS' is (kind of the first part of my question) ... and I don't have a p11d form this year (told I don't need one).
As for how accurate... not sure what you mean, my figues (personal or my companies (my company)?
I'm just doing my first SA return as an IT contractor.... I run a limited company (started in May 2010) and do the usual salary + dividend.
I believe I fall outside IR35.
So ... do I have to fill in the section detailing 'services companies' ? (seems like a question loaded for another...
