Contracting role offer - but now IR35 being repealed...

Like you said previously, clients will pay around market rates for a role. Market rates are obviously determined by supply/demand. If the majority of contractors in that market segment post April are prepared to accept lower rates as they can go outside IR35, then obviously the supply curve has...

Contracting role offer - but now IR35 being repealed...

Thank you for your well reasoned response. It's a possibility after April then that clients reduce their rates for the same jobs as contractors can now go outside IR35 so they would be prepared to accept those lower rates, in which case market rates would fall.

Contracting role offer - but now IR35 being repealed...

Added risk from having a large tax bill from HRMC if they deemed my outside IR35 role to be inside (assuming after April I started an outside IR35 contract). Added paperwork from setting up a limited company and doing the book keeping/getting an accountant. Though I am a newbie to contracting so...

Contracting role offer - but now IR35 being repealed...

Ah, ultimately I would hope to earn a sizeable amount more if I went outside IR35 given the added risk/potential paperwork. That being said, the role I am expecting an offer for is at £875/day. Therefore, the income of the outside IR35 daily rate would need to be a fair bit higher if I ever went...

Of course, but hopefully I would have built up a good reputation by then. Moreover, certain skillsets can be harder to source too.

Contracting role offer - but now IR35 being repealed...

No, not for no reason at all. Extra leverage because after April, the market may open up for outside IR35 roles, in which case the threat/chances of me leaving for a higher paying role increases.

Contracting role offer - but now IR35 being repealed...

Thanks for your detailed response. As you say, maybe the only way I could move outside IR35 would be if I changed roles after April then.

Contracting role offer - but now IR35 being repealed...

I believe it would be for 12 months. Can't hold off accepting for 6 months but maybe I have extra leverage now in terms of the negotiation given the recent news...

Contracting role offer - but now IR35 being repealed...

Nothing has changed. I was just hoping that with the IR35 reform repealing next April, it would give me some extra leverage now in any negotiation ha.

Contracting role offer - but now IR35 being repealed...

To clarify, I currently work for an investment bank in a permanent role. I am expecting an offer this week from a different bank for a contracting role. This role would be within IR35. From what I've seen, pretty much all the contracting roles in banking in my field appear to be within IR35 (of...

Contracting role offer - but now IR35 being repealed...

Hi all, I currently work in banking in a perm role. I am expecting an offer for a contracting role next week (which would be within IR35). This would be my first ever contracting role. Given the recent news regarding IR35 rules changing from April 23, how does this affect my negotiating...
