I'm selling a bunch of my personally owned kit to my Ltd (laptop, phone, desk etc) so wont be buying anything until at leat 6 months down the line (if I was then it would be a no brainer to register sooner), planning on getting an M5 MBP when thay surfaces so that will prob be towards the end of...

Flat Rate VAT @ 16.5% for 'Limited cost Traders'

Thanks All. Also given that I won't be putting any VAT reclaims through the books for at least the 1st 6-9 months I see no need to register for VAT until my turnover exceeds the specified 90k threshold, its just increased admin for me with no reciprecol benefit until then AFAICT?

Flat Rate VAT @ 16.5% for 'Limited cost Traders'

It certainly does seem like FR VAT is no longer attractive for IT contractors, no saving (time or money, as FA does all of the legwork - you cant claim vat back on tech needed for the business - and the 16.5% means you get no benefit from making the VAT mans life easier). I see that you dont...

Flat Rate VAT @ 16.5% for 'Limited cost Traders'

Hello I'm in the middle of setting up a Ltd again after a few years in permie land and see that the rate for most IT contractors seems to 16.5% (with no 1% discount in your first year either to sweeten the pill). Reading up on it it seems that so long as you spend at least 2% of the value of...

Best accountancy firms for LTD in 2023 - Contractor in tech - Outside IR35

Hi, just wondering if you went down this route in the end? I'm moving back into contracting (outside) after a few years as a perm and have been trawling these forums for Acountant recommendations, ~ £150 a month for doing some basic bookeeping seems excessive, thinking of having a go myself...

    625 a day outside ir35 or 110k a yr perm

It's not just the money (although I wouldn't turn up my nose at it!). Just seems to be too good an opportunity to just turn down. Considering I live up north and am a lowly dev this is London money with no commute and way above what I would be able to get if not for this crazy Job market we seem...

    625 a day outside ir35 or 110k a yr perm

Hello Been made a perm offer (interesting role, fully remote etc) of 115k a yr which means pension, holidays, health care etc on top vs carrying on as a contractor on 625 a day (outside ir35) - in these choppy waters (NI + dividend whammy not long ago plus more to come), what would you do?

    FreeAgent

After struggling with a bespoke spreadsheet from my accountant the last time I contracted one of the main criteria upon setting up my new Ltd was that were using FreeAgent.

    Specialise or Generalise

I would look at getting certified in the likes of AWS or Azure (They both have developer certs, I'm most of the way through the AWS one myself).

    No Jab, No Job

Symptoms do vary a lot but for me it was in bed solid for 2 weeks, no appetite (loss of taste/smell, lost 2/3 of a stone in weight), no sleep, extreme muscle pains in legs (funnily enought nothing much top half wise :freaky:), headache behind right eye that lasted for a week and would not...

    No Jab, No Job

Indeed i think there are valid grounds for this. I always said I would have the vaccine right from the start (when most people were of the opposite opinion). I'm due to have the first injection by the end of April (40-49 age group), just in time for me to have fully recovered from covid which I...

Umbrella or Ltd, 2 income streams.

Both roles are direct so I assume that if they say its outside IR35 then im coverered (and the liability if not then falls to them rather than me). Oh and I'm not planning to work 7 days a week, will be taking Saturdays or Sundays off :smile
