Is that enforceable - I would be unable to take that seriously. Not discussing with the client, ok. But not discussing with other contractors on site ??
In my previous contract, my line manager decided I would do a little admin. Went along with it - turned out the admin meant I had a clear view...
You've tried USB and PS/2 keyboards. There is NO common hardware there - it is a software issue. My vote goes to a trojan keylogger too.
A way you MIGHT catch it is by bringing up task manager, keep it sorted by CPU percent. Then hit some keys and see if any processes seem to get real busy - if...
Pretty much what I was hoping to hear. Thanks for that . . . what are typical tactics taken by agents in this scenario?
It seems if they threaten the client, they risk souring a relationship. Can I expect lawyers letters, or will they chalk it up to 'experience'? :fight:
Looking at the...
Don't know if this thread is still live ... but just entered this space. I signed opt-out after interview - even had a small back-and-forth about it when it happened.
It's 8 months later and negotiations on a (3rd) extension with the agent have broken down. Client is happy to take me on - but...
LOL Like Now? (me) (or did you mean the "newbie" - I was that 8 months ago)
My position: Negotiations just broke down with my agent. Contract up for renewal next week, the client is happy to take me, but me and the agent don't see eye-to-eye on the rates.
I'm in a limited company, and the...
Hi Again,
Close to a (mobile) contract. Is it feasible to ask for weekly payment in the contract? - seen that mentioned here, and didn't know it could be done. Under what circumstances will an agent/client consider this?
Just arrived from overseas, and my experience comes from NZ. NZ is a smaller market, so the kind of specialistion I'm seeing here doesn't exist. Developers have a mixed bag of experience.
That said, special areas of experience for me are embedded development for large systems - ie military...
Still fighting through the contractor learning curve, and I'm having trouble with agents. Most seem to be just CV libraries.
Found one excellent agent so far - at Optimus Search
Can anybody recommend other good agents to use for Embedded Systems. I have a lot of crap to filter through.
So far...
I can give a band - but what I would take depends a lot on who I'm working for. What if I see a position - and reading between the lines would take a lot less if the position is what I THINK it might be. Then getting to interview learn that it's not what I thought. Still happy to work there, but...
Ok. The agent has already (almost always with me anyway) tried to get me to agree a rate already. I've refused to make a firm agreement - especially on the phone with a first call. It seems that I could just tell the client what I'm going to accept - or has the client already agreed a rate with...
That's pretty much my thinking - which is why I'm here. If I accept 26£ for example, which is still way above minimum wage in this country, then I am screwing the market for other contractors. And I'm one of those 'suckers born every minute' just letting the agent walk away with the same again...
Why shy to talk rates? (maybe thats a dumb question?) But the only people I can think of with a percentage in me not knowing other rates is the agent. What would be my percentage in my not telling a fellow con what my rate is? If his is better, then maybe I can do better - if I can match his...
