    Am I asking for trouble?

Thanks everyone. I've had something along the lines of Northernlad's Option 2 before but this looks like it's being done behind the backs of everyone. I'm not happy as when the consultancy and the agency find out they'll not be happy and if the consultancy threaten to go legal with the end...

    SC Clearance doom?

^^This. When I was going through getting a very high level of clearance it was all about what could be used as a lever. They don't really care what you've done as long as you're open and upfront and no one could use it to blackmail/coerce you.

    Am I asking for trouble?

Just finished a contract through an agency into a small consultancy (ClientCo) and then working with their Client. Consultancy were marking up my day rate by over 100% and adding on extra permies for "oversight". I've got a good relationship with the guy I've been working with in the...

    'Permanent' role via my Ltd?

Is it 100K + benefits or 100K package? If it's a package then you're probably looking at around 75K base with 25K split into bonus and benefits. A lot of places now have a flexible benefits scheme where you get to decide how much of the benefits pot goes to pension, healthcare, car etc. I had...

    'Permanent' role via my Ltd?

Can't see how the contract would work easily with a pure permie role but might be do-able with a Fixed Term Contract. When I joined a certain large blue hardware vendor as a permie we were all actually taken on four year FTCs and almost everyone got converted to perm after a year. First thing...

Enforced Xmas not working - penny pinching clients

At my last gig they make all contractors take off two weeks over Christmas. I was given the heads up by other contractors - the client had said nothing. That said it doesn't matter as the project I was working on got scaled back so I finished on Friday anyway and now looking at getting some...

    Bob is struggling everywhere now

What would be interesting is where the supposedly English speaking nations would fit on that table. What clever so-and-so thought of the idea of replacing Bob call centres with ones full of Geordies or Glaswegians?

    Windows 8

Been using it for a couple of months and to be honest can't see what all the bad press is about. Even Office 2013 kicks you into desktop mode, which looks just like Win7 minus the Start button.

Life is good when you dont have any kids

I agree. I've told any soon-to-be Dads that they can end up feeling like a spare part for the first six weeks as the new arrival just sleeps feeds and cries, especially if the baby's being breastfed. Then, just as you begin to wonder wtf you've let yourself in for, you get the first smile and...

Life is good when you dont have any kids

The biggest cost with kids is time. My two (4 and 1) are time sinks, even simple things take longer and sleep deprivation doesn't help. But they are worth every minute :)

Why do the British hate success?

Greece is rather cheap these days but will probably be re-possessed by the Germans at some point :)

Why do the British hate success?

Right now I doubt very many are on GMT at all unless they want to be an hour behind the rest of the UK. Despite the lack of a summer we're still on BST.

    The software industry in America

I looked at going over on a company transfer back when I was a permie. They tax married couples as a single entity so if you're married with a stay-at-home wife then you get all of her tax allowance.
