DIY Pensions for a Limited Company?

In this scenario, if you paid £50k into your pension (given you haven't contributed in previous years), your profit would then be £0 so no CT to pay ?

    CEST Substitution question wording

I am not sure that my question has been answered. What is the correct answer when using the CEST tool ? "Does the Hirer have the right to reject a substitute?" HMRC guidance suggests the answer is No but the additional info on the Cest tool would suggest Yes ?

    CEST Substitution question wording

Are CEST and HMRC Guidance contradictory ? Are CEST and HMRC Guidance contradictory ? Maybe some one can advise on this: 1. HMRC Guidance The HMRC guidance says: "Where the hirer can only reject a substitute upon grounds that they are not qualified to perform the work, this would fall within...

Which Umbrella from PSL (again !)

Thanks. Unfortunately they are quite adamant that this is the list following their own due diligence. I am not too concerned about the actual take home pay because, as you say, they should all be within a few pounds of each other. My question for a recommendation would be more about response...

Which Umbrella from PSL (again !)

I have been through the site and seen other similar questions but they don't quite answer mine. Many other PSL questions seem to have included Paystream which is recommended but not on mine. My PSL list is: Nasa Group Clipper Contracting Crest Plus Danbro Giant Group JMK Group Racs Group...

*rant* Umbrellas - FCSA members illustrations / calcs - 52 working weeks FFS

Thanks, so not being an FCSA member does not restrict an umbrella from offering pension schemes and other salary sacrifice schemes ? It is just about adhering to a set of standards and having a body you can use for independent appeal ?

*rant* Umbrellas - FCSA members illustrations / calcs - 52 working weeks FFS

What does FCSA get you? What does FCSA get you? Hi all, I am rapidly trying to educate myself on Umbrella companies due to IR35 changes. I have read a heck of a lot of threads. I understand that some schemes have flexibility on salary sacrifice for pensions etc and others don't. What I...

Buying a motorbike through a Ltd Company...

Thanks. Great to hear. With respect to the insurance, are you the registered keeper with the legal owner being your company ? Did you specify this on insurance quotes. Out of 33 companies, I only found one that would quote where the owner was the company even though I am the registered keeper.

Buying a motorbike through a Ltd Company...

OK, this is confusing. I understand the VAT and margin VAT issue, that is not an issue. If the invoice lists VAT, then it is potentially claimable. If it does not list VAT (eg under the VAT margin scheme) then there is nothing to claim. As regards BIK and the question of being charged 20% in...

Buying a motorbike through a Ltd Company...

    1) Is anyone doing this ? 2) Can I claim VAT back on a used bike, assuming I have a VAT invoice ? 3) if it is for business use (even if you say 95% to get around the availability issue), do you only pay 5% of the 20% BiK value instead of the full 20% ? I have asked my accountant and he seems to...

Buying a motorbike through a Ltd Company...

Thanks. At the moment, I am not caught by the 24 month rule but could be in 23 months time so would need to take a view nearer that time and either sell the bike or stop claiming the 24p per mile. The sole purpose of the bike is for commuting only. As such, back and forth from home (where my...

Buying a motorbike through a Ltd Company...

Also, in relation to the insurance mentioned above, where you are not claiming any personal use for the bike, does it have to be Business Insurance or can you just take out Social, Domestic incl Commuting (which is cheaper), or would this raise questions from HMRC as to the legitimacy of 100%...

Buying a motorbike through a Ltd Company...

Interesting thread. I didn't know that motorbikes could be bought through a company and be financially better than a car. I was looking at purchasing a 125cc scooter for commuting to work. No personal use, the only reason for buying is to avoid public transport. I was going to purchase...

Recruitment Agencies - Is there an alternative?

I think that is a little unfair. Don't get me wrong, there are many agents/agencies who don't have a clue but I have worked with a few agents that did know their tech and know exactly the type of candidates that have the right skills, attitude and experience.

    Another car thread

Experience probably depends on the individual you deal with and/or the dealership. It is the same with other marques. My worst experience has been with a BMW dealer who were totally disinterested in selling me a car....twice ! My sales experience at Porsche Hatfield was excellent, but I put it...
