Offshore payments and Ltd contract question

You don't say whether you are non uk domiciled. That may have led your accountant to make those comments. Regardless, tax needs to be paid somewhere.

    Why a legal contract?

Actually, one thing I always wondered was when past contracting history can be used as a defence. "I'm sorry hmrc, you see I can't be a disguised employee as I've been freelance for 10 years and signing away my soul is morally unacceptable to me. I would never do it".

    Why a legal contract?

You know what, there is a lot of references to the OP and their weed smoking habit. But it's a good question raised. Every contract I have, the non MOO essentially means that even when the contract is in place, legally there is no reason I have to show up. Or work is given. It usually also means...

Australian Properties held in UK / Offshore Trust

Gifting into a trust is common practice. Oh dear, I've just seen how little you know about trusts from your comment.

Australian Properties held in UK / Offshore Trust

Does anyone have direct, personal experience of transferring overseas properties out of personal name into a UK (family) trust? There would be the advantage of not having to file tax returns in multiple jurisdictions and inheritance / succession planning reasons.

    Reference Issue

I just received a full response in the post from a screening agency I wrote to requesting access to my reference checks under DPA Subject Access Request for a position I worked last year. Their response included all references they collected in the course of providing background checks.

What would you do if you had 10+ years of warchest?

Seriously, what? Would you change what you are doing now? If so, how?

Crunch accountant or personal one ?

fwiw, I use a hybrid setup. Rodliffe accounting provide me with a fully online system that I can create branded invoices, receive payments, run my payroll, put in expenses and report off the 200 or so accounting line items I can book things against. My financial dashboard is only as out of date...

    Breaking my contract?

Almost always the best advice is to just have an honest conversation and come to some compromise. There are lots of things that could be proposed. It's like a landlord, even if you can hold your disgruntled tenants to a contract, do you really want them staying in your house?

    Getting my first contract

Some clever IT coder came up with the idea of an online test for recruiting their own skillset. (the advanced ones even have the candidate write code on the website, it's compiled and run and the logarithmic performance of the algos are measured for candidate comparions....) Anyhow, I see...

    Personal services company? need help...

fyi. I've been paid a notice period on a contract, project finished early and they wanted the team off premises. So that was 3 weeks full pay upon them serving notice on the contract. Even a 6 week, fixed term contract I worked (how could that be deemed "employment"?) had a notice period in...

How do I get at my money in the most tax efficient way?

If you are careful about residency, I believe you could take a once off capital distribution &/or dividend whilst lying on the beach in the virgin islands. You would want to ensure that you are no longer residend in the UK for tax, and it may also require a "lifestyle" holiday for a year before...

    Personal services company? need help...

If I opt in of AWR, does that mean the agency has to honour contract notice periods even if the client doesn't? And if so, does that weaken my IR35 status if being outside. Always wondered if one affects the other...

    Getting my first contract

The market is tough, but not impossible. It all depends on how keen you are. Last contract lasted 10 weeks and I had to send off 800 jobserve applications. The one before lasted 5 months and that took 1200 jobserve applications and 11 interviews. However last year I made more than any other...

What to do when non-payment from end client during last week of working...

GB9, which insurer was that with? I don't have that cover but would like to take out a policy.
