AI makes little difference because there are so many bottlenecks outside of what the AI generates. It's like driving between lots of red traffic lights at 200mph.
Did you read the manifesto by the CEO of Proton mail a few days ago, it captured what you wrote. CEO's think productivity has skyrocketed but get shocked when they find it hasn't:
"Outside Proton, the AI revolution is taking the world by storm...
So why, at Proton, does it not feel like the...
Clients as a group can do 4 things.
1. Reduce headcount budget because of AI savings (largest head count reduction)
2. Maintain overall budget but then pay for AI from the existing headcount budget (smaller headcount reduction)
3. Same headcount budget but also an additional budget for AI...
I think the correct test to give candidates these days is a bad AI generated codebase and ask the candidate to point out the issues with it and ways it can be improved.
Perhaps even the stage before that, asking the candidate what was wrong with the original specs and prompts given to the AI to...
It depends on how many good candidates the client is getting. The more good candidates they have the more they can waste your time and put you through various humiliation rituals.

There is no need to ask a contractor for help on how to understand and use AI when you can just ask AI how to understand and use AI.
Companies paying consultants 100K+ for reports, that turn out to have been written by AI, just cut out the middle man.
Why is it exhausting, are you in the office and have to pretend to look busy all the time? Working with AI from home is a dream, you kick off a prompt and put your feet up or do whatever else wan't to do while it grinds away doing the work for you.
But this dream might be too good to last, turn...
It cant be stopped now open weight models are taking over.
At work they are seriously thinking of buying devs £5,000 Mac Ultras (128gb unified memory) to run open weight models locally.
In just 3 months open weight went from being 20% share to being almost 80% share on at least one popular AI...

And Job posting for all types of jobs in the UK since then are down 27%

Market was good back at the start of this year. Then the attack on Iran slowed things down considerably . It looks like we are back to what the market was like at the start of the year, maybe even better.
Now there was talk that after the US midterm elections (in November) that Trump might...
Agile init: "Working software over comprehensive documentation"
One the AI buzzwords around six months ago was Spec driven development: giving an AI clanker a comprehensive spec it can code from, that seems to have died down a bit, although some people still seem to suffer from AI psychosis..
