    State of the Market

I've been looking since December and have had 3 interviews. I've been turned down for them all because I have holidays booked over Easter. It's really frustrating, do I not tell them and just turn up and say I've got holidays booked?

    What would you have done?

There is actually no work involved on my end. They basically want me to turn up with them at the clients office and pretend I am working on the project so they can fulfill the conditions of the contract. I can charge for the daily for the travel and and being at the office. After that I...

    What would you have done?

Yeah I'm currently in a contract which ends this month, so at first I thought it would be a good opportunity. I'm guessing they just want to do it on the cheap.

    What would you have done?

From the information they told me, the contractor(me) is expected to work on the product as part of the condition on winning the bid. It is a government contract(not UK) which I guess means they have had to meet a whole bunch of conditions. They only have a small team of young developers and...

    What would you have done?

So a previous client contacted me about a "contract" opportunity. They had won a contract to deliver a product. When they won the contract one of the conditions was that they needed to have someone with specific qualifications and experience. When they went to bid for the contract they did have...

    Buying Microsoft Tools

You can try to get onto the Bizspark program. https://www.microsoft.com/bizspark It basically gives you full access to the Microsoft software catalog for 3 years. Your limited company must be under 3 years old I think. I recommend you set up a website for your ltd company as MS will check on that.

New contract within IR35 by default?

So latest update. After a week People Source came back to me to say they have advised the client to change the contract terms and would like to bring me back. Unlucky for them I've just managed to get another contract. I'm guessing they are struggling for find any contractors willing to work...

New contract within IR35 by default?

Latest update. Just called agency to let them know I won't take on the contract. They are still pushing the line that all agencies and contractors will be working in the same way from now on, everyone will be within IR35. Anyway just told them only way I can take on the job is if it is not...

New contract within IR35 by default?

True the agent or the end client doesn't care, but as a contractor you would need to know before hand what the agency intends to do with regards to IR35 so you can work out if the contract is worth it?

New contract within IR35 by default?

Yeah I can walk away. Don't think the money will be worth it as I will need to work away from home so not being able to claim expenses will be a big deal. I wonder now if it will be the case that when you apply for new contract roles will you also need to ask the agent is the daily rate an IR35...

New contract within IR35 by default?

Hi just an update, Spoke with the agency, People Source for those asking, and they are refusing to change the contract. Their reasoning is because "of the new regulations" all contracts they are signing up will be within IR35, not sure if they mean with the current client or with every...

New contract within IR35 by default?

Thanks for that. So does that mean I can get them to reword the contract? Currently the title of the contract is: "TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT WITH A LIMITED COMPANY CONTRACTOR WHO HAS OPTED OUT OF THE CONDUCT REGULATIONS (WITHIN IR35 AND UNDER SDC)" I'm waiting for QDOS with their review, but the...

New contract within IR35 by default?

Hi all, I've just been offered a new contract where the agency has said by default the contract will be within IR35. The information the gave me was: "From April 6th 2016 legislation has changed in respect of Travel and Subsistence (T&S) for umbrella company contractors, “restricting” T&S...
