Has anybody here furloughed themselves yet?

Initially when I raised with accountant, they thought that sick pay might be my only route, but that was before HMRC added the bit about directors being able to furlough. My accountant has said I would be fine to look for permie jobs, not contracts though.

Has anybody here furloughed themselves yet?

My accountant will be putting in a CJRS application from me. Contract finished 2nd April (a few days earlier than contact end date), I am now shielding for 12 weeks. Accountant will make April’s application over the next week or so...busy processing those with March claims. I have reserves...

    Furloughed - Company Activity

Surely the point of furloughing your employee, is to claim the 80% / £2500 (paid into your business account) so that you can continue to pay them their paye (or agreed new paye amount)?

    Government packages

Yes, your outstanding balance will have increased by the monthly interest (assuming it’s just a payment holiday), and if your term remains the same, you’ll need to pay more back each month to repay it. For anyone who is able to extend their term, think about any insurances you have that might...

JRS and Single Director just finished contract

As I understand it, your Ltd still pays you your paye of up to £719, but the government pay the 80% to your Ltd.

Covid-19 rescue deal for Self employed.

I’d opted against putting money into a pension in case of needing money due to IR35 and contracts drying up (part right!), but yep, looks like it’s gonna be used for this. I’m on 12 weeks isolation due to member of household being vulnerable.

    Corona Virus Contingency

Reply from Accountant - pretty much what I expected - my contract finishes next week due to blanket getting rid of contractors. “ At the moment we are uncertain as to whether you will qualify for the salary grant of 80% - as soon as we know the finer detail from the emergency legislation we...

New to contracting, what would you do ?

Heard that a Financial Services company in Swindon, we’re preparing to offer 1 year extensions (inside IR35) for some of their contractors on a big migration programme, and served them notice a couple of days later. Just waiting for my official notice that I’m going too as cutbacks on several...

IR35: Planning for April 2021 – should I stay or should I go?

I’m on monthly invoices, but my agent has said he’s gonna pay everyone by end of March, so that we are paid before the deadline.

My ClientCo Just Blanketed Everyone Inside

Nationwide have just started issuing CEST Assessments - supposed to all be done by end of the month. From a couple of people I’ve talked to they are all coming out as “Inside IR35”, i.e. blanket approach taken. The people who have received them have not been given any advice / next steps, nor...

    Warchests

I’ve been contracting for just over 3 years. Before i went contracting I had my own savings war chest that would keep me going for 6-9 months if I made a hash of it / failed to get a contract. Luckily that war chest never got touched...because I’ve been in contract all that time. My other...

    Free Agent - Open banking

The only issue I have is that the HSBC OB feed (at circa 08:00 give or take 30mins) is based on yesterday’s end of day balance position. Of course that makes sense, but I previously uploaded “this morning’s” transactions at circa 08:30 each morning’s and then they were reconciled that day...

    Hi...About to go contracting

So 3 and a bit years into contracting and I finish up on Monday. Market is pretty quiet. A few of the usual suspects in my area preferring to recruit perms over contractors, but also a couple setting up offices nearby. Built up a war chest to tide me over for a few years, so will see what...
