    Flutter / React / Angular?

If you are looking at both web and mobile development I would focus on react and react native for mobiles development. Market for flutter probably isn't mature enough yet.

    Finding Devs

Freelancers.net? Freelancers.net? Hi, You could check out Freelancers.net. Not sure what the quality is like but used to be very good. Can search for a skill then go through and look at locations. Better than Upwork / People Per Hour, but will still get some offshore people on there too.

Devices/advice supporting elderly & less able to stay connected without home internet

It depends on your budget, but I think if you could smart phones it would be better. Will probably be less complicated than a tablet, can have whatsapp for making easy video calls / group chats, plus cost will be lower than tablet and dongle I think. I think Doro phones are aimed at the older...

Devices/advice supporting elderly & less able to stay connected without home internet

What is the internet speed like in your village? Would sharing wireless work with the people that are already connected? Obviously there would need to be a level.of trust there. But if they don't have the internet already, they probably won't be using it a lot anyway and very unlikely to do...

    Outside IR35 rates coming down

I haven't really been keeping an eye on the market as I am in a role, but occasionally have a look and still get a daily email from Jobserve from a search I have done previously. I did a quick search today and whilst there weren't a lot of outside roles being advertised they were all paying...

    Warchests

Happens more often than would think. Worst case I worked with was someone similar to who NLUK mentioned, spent every penny he earned including the VAT. His attitude was, he would use the months income to pay his VAT when it was due, and his CT wasn't due for 21 months (he was a first time...

Equity release - anyone done this?

There are some interesting products out there. Have you looked at interest rates yet or got any costings? I haven't got that far as it's still quite a way off for us.

    Contracting within IR35

I think the really simple answer here is you pay for everything. The main costs to you being income tax, employees NI, Employers NI, Brolly fee, Apprenticeship Levy (if applicable) and anything else the government wants to throw at you. The calculation you are doing is quite a simple one (I...

Equity release - anyone done this?

my wife and I are about 15 / 20 years away from being able to make use of it, but had had a look at it for planning for our future. It's certainly something we are considering. The only thing I don't like about the standard product is because you aren't paying off the interest, the amount you...

Close company or make it dormant

Thanks for the replies. I agree about keeping it going until after the probationary period. The issue is my year end is September, and my probationary period ends in December. I don't really want to pay another years accountancy fees, insurance fees etc on the off chance I need to use the...

Close company or make it dormant

Thanks for the reply. I don't really want to just have it sitting there open with no transactions, as I would still need to file accounts / have insurance etc, so would be costing me money to have it sat there. So would need to be either dormant or closed. There isn't enough in the bank to...

Close company or make it dormant

Just wondered what the general consensus was about closing down my ltd vs making it dormant for a year or 2. I have had my company for over 10 years now, so well established etc. I have recently taken a permanent role at a start up, which was a good offer / equity etc, also wanting to see how...

    closing ltd company

Should have explained better, but was on my phone so wanted to type as little as possible, whilst trying to explain to OP. This was the reasoning behind just taking everything out as a final dividend rather than using MVL. If I go back to contracting within the next 2 years didn't want to have...

    closing ltd company

Am in pretty much the same situation. Spoke to my accountant and they said its pretty easy. Just do a normal end of year (mine is coming up anyway). Pay any outstanding corporation tax, vat etc if applicable. They then take over running the company for a small fee (£100 in this case). They...
