It may not only be HMRC surreptitiously posting on these pages. Who knows, it may be the trusts, or those who have "bought" their loan books, in an effort to *encourage* scheme users to part with yet more hard earned cash.
I'd agree with BP on this - always go through...
It's not a blog post, it is an official letter from HMRC which I understand many thousands of proposed "settlers" have received. As such it should surely carry some weight?
To be certain, HMRC should be contacted to check this point (does a SATR need to be completed for those in settlement...
Help with dividends (VERY WORRIED)
This.
It's all very well those being smug after the event (and very well done, you:happy) - but many went with these solutions for perfectly legitimate reasons. To those * clever* enough to avoid this tulipstorm, rather than pat yourselves warmly on the...
I have had the same letter. I can think of no reason why anyone in receipt of such a letter would not now hold on until the outcome of the review. The letter states you will NOT be penalised in any way by waiting, and that any changes agreed in the review will be applied to your settlement...
No-one can advise you what to do in your scenario. I'd get some professional advice from a tax specialist (there are some on this forum). Why would you trust a bunch of people you don't know on a public forum to give you advice? You'll need to be quick though - you have about 5 days.
If you're 100% certain that you never took any money (loan or otherwise) from them, then why worry. Call them, put them straight. Unless there is some doubt in your mind...
I'm sure it was put across to him how important it is for his views not to be tainted by his able assistants from HMT and HMRC. I just hope his recommendations take account of the years of HMRC failure, and that HM Government are bound by them.
The following is an extract from Jesse Norman's letter to all MP dated 11 September 2016:-
"Individuals should continue to prepare to file a 2018-19 Self Assessment return and pay
the Loan Charge by 31 January 2020. However, we do not know what Sir Amyas will
recommend and I recognise that...
I've read this a few times now - it's not exactly unequivocal on that point (below). Probably best to call for confirmation (asking for it to be confirmed in writing, of course):-
"If you provided all the required information by 5 April 2019 and are waiting to finalise
your settlement with...
Political shenanigans
Political shenanigans
Not sure what last night's political events will mean for any "review" - why would BoJo announce anything given he may not even be PM in a month's time?
And even if he does, it's only a review - the last one (albeit a sham) did not give the result...

Thanks for taking the time to update those in settlement. Are we likely to read the above message from official channels - website update, HMRC Spotlight publication, other?
I am loathe to take the time to call them, to wait ages to get through before finally speaking to some...
