Giant Do Not Touch Giant Msc /umbrellla /limited

"The articles made the point that anybody operating through their own limited company, using a service provider like giant, (even one purporting to be a professional accountant) will be classed as a managed service company and all parties involved will face the frightening financial...

    Property Investment through Ltd

The shipping costs are astronomical and I can never get someone to hold the end of the ribbon while I sort out the bow :/ Interesting thread. I know someone who manages a rental property through a Ltd. I'm getting the idea it's not in his best interests and will point him this way if I may.

    What are the best options?

I can't comment on the per annum cost, but a ltd company can be set up for peanuts. Go to Companies House and they offer incorporation for 20 quid of 15 for doing so online. Do talk to the accountants though, there are other costs which they can explain.

Definition of "professional accountants" in the context of MSC providers

I think there's alot of frustration at the moment. The HMRC, well government in general, make it up as they go along and that is particularly apparent with this change. Legislation should be specific and if a case is missed, redrafted. The current raft of bland, unclear legislation obfuscates...

    Confused!

Ack, just lost my post and citations, so I'll summarise without the justifications. 1) This legislation is aimed at contractors, it does so by targetting MSCs. 2) An MSC is not clearly defined. I can probably make a case that my web hosting company is an MSC. I could use services where my...

    Confused!

Would you please consider punctuation. Forgive the vitriol, I don't disagree with you, but I like to inhale while reading. I fully understand where you're coming from though. Why the hell does no one know what our current position is? I'm planning on expanding the services I provide but that...

    Giant pull their Trailblazer service

Well, there's nothing like some bad legislation to force me into activity. I've got my ltd, just need to sort out the accountancy. What does everyone do regarding insurance, both professional liability and ir35 assuming such a thing still exists, ever existed.

    Doctor Who

Didn't I see you on Jon Stewart's show earlier? (Bah can't find the link, you'll know it when you see it :)) I loved it. The rhino's were very fifth element, a movie I adored. The people in the hospital when it moved to the moon were a bit rubbish, but Martha was great. I'm looking forward to...

    Government Gigs!!!

How do you find (edit: experience not locate :)) gov contracts? I've had a few enquiries and I've always avoided them. It's difficult to say why; bad press, complicated working conditions? More bad press? How are you cleared from a security stand point? I've nothing to hide, but I imagine it...

    Giant Powerhouse and P60

I'm seeing a lot of Giant hate here, and as a Giant customer I'm curious. I've just set up a ltd via Giant and like the portal. I'm annoyed they haven't sorted out automated bank account creation. It's comical that I've already received my first company spam from HSBC offering preferential...

    Investing In Vintage Wine

I agree, there have been a number of high profile cases recently where premium bottles have turned out to be rubbish. I'm sure you can make money this way, but I personally wouldn't put that responsibility in the hands of a third party without understanding exactly what I was buying and on what...

    Mortgage advice

Yeah I popped in as I work very close to their branch rather than any sound financial planning :) I've been looking at a couple of options and I've been discussing them with the guys in the office who have already been through all this so I think I know what I want now. I'll let you know how I...

    Mortgage advice

That's interesting to know. I'll investigate this. I have a reasonably large deposit after my projected costs, which I would hope will help grease the wheels.

    Mortgage advice

I'm on market rates for a financial developer, so I get by. The guy I spoke to in the halifax showed me some emails he'd received regarding contractors just before christmas which explicitly state that a contractor is to be deemed self employed and as such must provide three years of accounts...
