    Maternity pay through Umbrella company

    Hi all,

I'm new on here - please be gentle! I'm looking for some advice on how to claim Maternity pay through an Umbrella company. Has anyone done this successfully? If so any advice on how to achieve this would be gratefully appreciated.

    Many thanks.

This info, from this very site, should help. Although it's a little old, I see no reason for things to have changed.

You'll need to contact your umbrella and put in a claim by the looks of it.

Quite a few threads, also a bit old but should also help with any questions you have that aren't covered by the link above.

Hi Special K, you need to make sure that 15 weeks before your due date you inform your employer (ie the umbrella) that you are pregnant, this letter must include your proposed last day of work. You will also receive a MATB1 form from your doctor or nurse, which will have to be supplied to your employer (ie umbrella). They should then confirm if you are eligible for maternity pay. If for any reason you are not, then they will supply you with an SMP1 form which can be taken to your job centre to see if you are able to claim it that way.
        Hope that helps
