Current Advice Wanted on PCL Please

My husband is about to sign on the dotted line with Principal Contractors Ltd. I've searched the net and the only seemingly independent reviews I can find about them are on this site in 2013. Does anyone have any recent experience of using them?

Having spent the last year temping through an agency, he's been offered a 6 month contract with a new company but they won't pay PAYE so he has to either set up his own limited company (which is a lot of hassle for 6 months) or use a company which will process his PAYE without ripping him off with ridiculously high charges.

Being a glass half-empty sort of person I tend to be very very wary of anything I don't know much about....

Any advice ASAP would be much appreciate please.
    Thanks in advance.

Is the agency recommending them? From a quick Google they appear to be one of the 90% take home crowd. Does that sound reasonable to you if you expect a PAYE umbrella?

I used Parasol when I went via umbrella, had no problem with them.

Have a look at the scheme enquiries board. Decide if that is the sort of thing hing you want to be involved with. Somewhere down the line you will.

contractor umbrella get a good rep. But there are others. Anyhing that pays in any way other than paye and expenses will bite you eventually.

They're based in the Isle of Man - company number 022571B in the Isle of Man Company Registry https://www.gov.im/categories/busine...nies-registry/

          Who is recommending them???

I don't believe anyone is recommending them, he's found them online...... and no I think 90% implies something dodgy....

The 'personal illustration' they prepared for him quotes 84% but to me that also sounds a bit too good to be totally legal and above board...

The fact that they are based in the Isle of Man means that they will fall foul of the Offshore Intermediaries legislation https://www.gov.uk/government/public...intermediaries

The fact that it seems to good to be true means it very probably is - have a look here for some stories from people who got caught out with this sort of scheme HMRC Scheme Enquiries
