    Wi-Fi doesn’t have a valid IP configuration

Got a new Dell Inspiron laptop and it was fine until today now there's no Internet connection. Other devices are fine. Windows troubleshooter tells me Wi-Fi doesn’t have a valid IP configuration

Doesn't seem to be the result of any windows update.

Googled this and tried all the suggestions - reset router, release ip, uninstall adapter etc. Still no joy.

Used to get this kind of bollocks with my old pc but at least a reboot sorted it.

Have you tried to reboot the .... Oh, OK...

Sounds like an IP clash to me; you can get this when a duplicate IP tries to connect to the LAN. Are all devices using the same DHCP service, or have you hard-coded one or more of them?
    Blog? What blog...?

Have you tried taking it back to the shop and buying an Apple MacBook?

Hmm will disconnect all my other devices and see what happens. Nothing hard coded, no.

        Edit: Nope. Still the same

AVG Antivirus was the problem. Again

Uninstalled it and everything works fine. Now to find out what to change in its labyrinthine settings before I reinstall it again.

Don't think I'll be renewing my subscription - not the first time I've pulled my hair out because of this damn product...

Windows Defender isn’t that bad these days.

I like the fact I have one subscription for all my devices and the paid version has some good features. However, in the new version, the firewall is a nightmare to configure and it pokes its nose in where I don't want it to .
