I bought a fleabay i5 X230 (gen 3 i5) earlier this year as a replacement for a cheap laptop that died (screen connector broke). Put in a cheap Sandisk SSD and it's flying.Leave a comment:

Personally I'd go for a Thinkpad. I've used one for as long as I can remember laptops being around and love the solid feel and the finish of them. Current one is 5 odd years old and bar put and SSD drive in it I've not had a hiccup. Bit heavy but guess anything that age is going to be.

Something not too ancient, 2nd generation i5.
