Fun things to play with during hospital visits.Buy ours cos everyone elses is tulip.Made in Ukraine.
This is interesting:
Many manufacturers of dosimeters do not disclose which Geiger counter in the dosimeter. But it is the heart of the dosimeter. They put a cheap and weak Geiger counter. How can you check? They hide the counter inside. Our counter you can see through the dosimeter. We have an expensive and high-quality Geiger counter. You can see max size of our Geiger counter.
We have no competitors on the price.

I've got 3.

One of them only detects gammas & cosmic rays, so if that fecker starts clicking* you know the excrement has hit the aircon & no mistake.
*ZeitMater's radioiodine treatment sent it apetulip crazy, so it really does detect stuff.

Wot's that done for California house prices? We must be told.

No. It's in a "the amount of radiation, though detectable is still very very tiny". Perhaps the guy with the Geiger counter was smoking a cigarette?Originally posted by suityou01 View PostIs that in a "we're all fooked so why worry" kind of way?

Is that in a "we're all fooked so why worry" kind of way?Originally posted by zeitghostSometimes you just can't be too careful.
However, looking at the plumes of fallout from the Nevada atmospheric tests in the 1940s & 50s, I don't suppose there's much to worry about from Fukushima.

Has anybody met the kind of person who walks on a beach in California with their own personal Geiger counter?

A 500% increase in gigas is certainly worth writing home about. That's could be as much as half a tera.Originally posted by suityou01 View PostAnd of course if anyone takes their own gigacounter to the beach and records a 500% increase in radiation levels that's just nonsense right?
Whether a 500% increase in radioactivity is worth worrying about depends on the baseline it's being compared with. 150 counts per minute is apparently less than you get from flying, so probably not a big deal.Last edited by doodab; 25 February 2014, 14:55.

More Fukushima lies
BBC News - North American scientists track incoming Fukushima plume
Really. Would those be the same safety levels Obama raised last year? But scientists stress that even the peak measurements will be well within the limits set by safety authorities.

And of course if anyone takes their own gigacounter to the beach and records a 500% increase in radiation levels that's just nonsense right?According to a statement by PEER (Public Employees For Environmental Responsibility) published on the organization’s website on April 8, 2013, Barack Obama has given final approval for the EPA’s attempt to raise radiation levels in soil and water following “radiological incidents.”
Officials reject concerns over 500 percent radiation increase on California beach ? RT USA
Throughout the course of the seven-minute-long clip, a man tests out his Geiger counter radiation detector while walking through Pacifica State Beach outside of San Francisco. At times, the monitor on the machine seems to show radiation of 150 counts-per-minute, or the equivalent of around five times what is typically found in that type of environment.Tags: None
