80% of people living in Switzerland are Swiss. Only the Swiss have the vote. The turnout was above 50% (which is quite high for a people's initiative).
Apparently the percentage of women voting this time was higher than usual. ( Woman have been allowed to vote in Switzerland for a few decades now ).

The posters by the SVP (the rather xenophobic right wing party of Switzerland) were banned in a number of cantons. Most of the major churches and Christian organisations in the country were in favour of NOT banning minarets. The biggest yes vote to the ban was in the predominanty Catholic Cantons.

At least the Swiss are able to make up their own laws.
Could the UK ban minarets or Scientology Churches?

Were you under the impression the Romans were always Christian? Like, BEFORE Christ was born?
So, were Adam & Eve Christians too? Did your Catholic school teach you that, too?
