You see this is precisely what hacks me off. I mean, good luck to scooby for doing well, but in general most govt projects are a "good doss" because they are poorly spec'd (mucho changes = £££££ to the contractor) and poorly performance managed (££££££s wasted, contractor breathes sigh of relief).Originally posted by scoobygood doss, 18mths away from home, nice bonus!
It was always going to cost more than budgeted, in factm we never really had a budget! it was all a case of jsut get it done.
If this govt would spend as much time getting the basics right with its large projects as the HMRC does in pursuing stuff like Arctic, it might actually save a few ££££s. And who knows, it might then even relax its tax agenda (stupid thought, eh?).

Outstanding, laugh of the day!Originally posted by thunderlizard"The department now wants its own staff to develop their skills by outward secondment work alongside the IT contractor."
Can you imagine the mirth engendered watching your average civil servant trying to do this?

Great. Why should the taxpayer spend £600/week on Joe Taxman of the Inland Revenue when it could be spending £1600/day on Joe Taxman of Cap Gemini?
