Exactly, the cladding alone wouldn't have caused the evacuation. The Fire Brigade have effectively condemned the buildings for a multitude of reasons.

It's not just the cladding.
Broken fire doors.
Unboxed gas pipes.
Fire wall penetrations.
Etc.
This is the result of Years of turning a blind eye to safety through lack of local government funding.

Source? And is your source suggesting that if there had been fewer people in the building that the fire wouldn't have happened?Originally posted by Lost It View PostBut maybe, just maybe... They have found more bodies than are supposed to be missing in Grenfell so they really wanted to do a body count to see how many came out of the buildings compared with how many should be in the building? Just a suggestion....
Sounds like a Darce "fact", if you ask me.

Or they could have 24/7 patrols, change the fire exit procedure, put alarms in every dwelling.

Best bit of this is, the cladding has been in place for ten years. Even the residents think's it over the top.
Check out the 12 year old girl Georgia Gould ('Labour') who is head of the council on why she's called this action.

Even cheaper to invoke emergency powers and impose a news blackout.Originally posted by MarillionFan View PostCamden flats: hundreds of homes evacuated over fire risk fears - BBC News
Ok, got it. So the stuff's been up for years. Given a bad set of circumstances there is a possibility of it all going up quickly if a fire broke out that managed to ignite the outside of the building like Grenfell.
So to mitigate that risk, we'll remove the cladding for M's of quid and then have to replace with something else. Makes sense. Fair.
So that's three blocks, 800 families you need to find accomodation for while you do this.
So let's assume 800 families need 1200 hotel rooms say. That;s going to be on London rates (discounted of course) 100 quid a night, plus food, discomfort etc, so 200 quid a night.
1200 x 200 = 240k per night in the private sector per night, to ensure that everyone is safe.
My question would be, how much to stick a fire engine with six fireman patrolling the building 24 hours per day for each tower which would have the same coverage / impact 'just in case'?

If we had ladders which could go up to 100 metres then this would have saved the residents of Grenfell.
Lets forget though, the entire building was a giant candle so that may have been difficult.
