Don't know all facts of the case but seems a sad travesty of justice. The complainant's story is very *very* hard to believe, and 8 years is outrageous. I predict this will be overturned.

Something not right here. Im surprised the defence didnt make more of inconsistencies like this (you dont watch tv together if you're blindfolded).

There's no way the 'victim' couldnt tell she was being dobbed with a fake nob, it would be far too rigid all the time (erm, Im no expert on fake nobs either!) Im surprised the defence didnt, ahem, push this more.

Reading the 'victim's comments about 'wanting to be loved, just loved' etc suggests to me she is seriously derranged.

The 94 year old is likely to drop dead in prison. While there are more older prisons around they still live shorter than if they were on the outside.

And she got 8 years because the crime is unusual. People get less for lying about having blood borne diseases.

In fairness, deception counts as rape as much as coercion.

For example, there was a case a few years ago when a burglar crept into a woman's bedroom, and she implicitly consented to sex with him believing (in the dark and her half asleep state) that he was her husband.
