They did it in some other cities as well.

The bans don't work anyway as people get private scans if they are that bigoted.

In UK? Don't think so. Most I know have determined sex of their baby.

On rest, I suppose one can hardly blame people for believing what they are brought up to believe. Why we need far stricter checks on those from third world and developing countries where some beliefs and practices are quite appalling. India is not exceptionable, take a look at rapes in South Africa for example.
