The Treasury needs high inflation rate to deflate the debt. When the currency devalues, it takes in theory less time to repay the debt.

In other words you pass the debt from the public hand to the private one.

well just arranged a stonking fixed rate, so once we buy the new house they can shove the rates through the sky.
