They've got impeccable spin doctors, it must be said. Perhaps priesthood is a better term? Anything to keep the pelf flowing into the governments' coffers. If a few hundred billions happen their way, all the better! We must atone for our carbon emitting ways.

SWIFTER WARMING OF GLOBE FORESEEN - NYTimes.com
Average global temperatures would rise by one-half a degree to one degree Fahrenheit from 1990 to 2000 if current trends are unchanged, according to Dr. Hansen's findings. Dr. Hansen said the global temperature would rise by another 2 to 4 degrees in the following decade.

Global warming slowdown 'could last another decade'
...well, er, mmm, perhaps there isn't the direct correlation that we're being sold? Perhaps it - er - just isn't happening? At least a decade should allow people to forget whilst the golden teat stays moist and "scientists" can quietly retire into obscurity.Scientists have struggled to explain the so-called pause that began in 1999, despite ever increasing levels of CO2 in the atmosphere.
Perhaps it's just not that simple? Perhaps my fifteen year old landrover isn't so bad?More than a dozen theories have been put forward on the cause of this pause in temperature growth that occurred while emissions of carbon dioxide were at record highs.
anyway this image should explain it:-

and if not, there's one of those images that looks a bit like a willy:-
