Recruiter advice: Don't put CV on job board site?!

As a specialist recruiter - I am looking to really grow my network.

The reason I need these things, is because we are in such a competitive market place at the moment, and if I can meet/speak with my [new] client(s), and have your CV with references, ‘ready to go’ – I am in a much stronger position to beat off competition from other agencies & candidates and secure you the work.

Here's another blinder by a specifica recruitng agency!

I got an email (BCC) last night by a known recruiter asking me (all in the list) the following:

As a specialist recruiter - I am looking to really grow my network.

My aim is to develop a pool of 50 candidates and 50 clients, of whom I will consistently work with over the next 5+ years.

In order to do so, I need to understand thoroughly, what the need, requirement & desire of both parties is.

Therefore, please provide me with the following:

- Up to date CV (Word Document):
- Location (Where you’d prefer to work):
- Rate (What you want to earn; based on previous earning power and market rates):
- References (Details of previous hiring managers or pre-ordained references, which can be used to impress prospective hirers):
- Details of any jobs that you may hear about: (Discreet information, which can be used to mutual benefit in the future):

Once I have all of this, I can dedicate ‘real’ time to narrowing the market down to find you the exact opportunity that matches your skill set.

Good grief! Name the muppet agent, then we'll see if it's a good idea or not.

I don't think the actions of one agent really represents the whole agency unless we can prove it is policy. Just as it wouldn't be fair for all us contractors to be tarred with the same brush as some of the idiots that post on here.

Recruiter advice: If their lips are moving, they are probably lying?!

I can see their point of view, as if your CV is available to all there is a risk that someone else will pimp you out instead of them.

But I'll admit they get points for originality.

Got a call from recruiter who is representing me for some clients and he advised me to remove my CV from job board as it discredits me as top of the market specialist. Even though he used job board to find my CV.

What a pile of bulltulip?
