Couldn't agree more. And that very thinking worked perfectly for me during the late 80's and all through the 90's as a contractor. But these days? 'Fraid not.

In my neck of the woods - Ye Olde Londinium Townie - nearly all the work (well, the decently paying stuff) is in Investment Banking. Step outside of it for a few years, as I did, and it's near impossible to break back in. Now I am back in it, I doubt I'll leave it for the rest of my contracting days. Kind of sad things have turned that way in this country, but paying the bills matters more than a cv full of "glass and sugar (etc.)"

    Working In Insurance

Anyone here recommend any primers that give a good overview of stuff that actuaries get up to in the (motor) insurance sector? I've had a load of stuff dumped on me which might as well have been written in Greek. I have no business knowledge of the sector at all.

While I'm at it, do people here consider this to be a good sector to be in?

    TIA.
