i do wonder if that's even real.
there is a delphi.net implementation (i had to check), but i doubt more than a handful of companies are using it.

Now there's a client in a mess. Scraping-the-budget-barrel rate required up front? check. Nightmarish combination of technologies? check. Well, I got into IT contracting with 0 experience by undercutting on jobs that any proper contractor would want danger money for, so nice to see it's still happening!

And he'll be off as soon as something better comes along, I really hope some of these shysters get seriously burned when/if things pick up.Originally posted by fullyautomatix View PostThe strategy is to start obscenely low and see what sticks. i'm seeing less and less rubbish adverts now, most look 'normal' again. this really did make me think 'WTF' though...
if they do get anyone decent, they'll leave as soon as they find something better, i guess.
if it makes you feel any better - my plan B uses .NET subcontractors and we pay a decent rate (200+ for work from home). any less you're pretty much doomed to get poor quality work.

Roger me sideways, thats low.
Even for the west country.
I've seen some right stinkers lately on jobserve. I saw one in manchester for a .NET dev advertised for an hourly rate of, and I quote "between £10 - £30 per hour" .... oh, i'll take the £10 p.h please.
