Today's Guardian has a money saving guide on cars, including insurance.
One of their interesting tips: Have a big excess. If you have a small excess then you can't sensibly make a small claim because your insurance will go up next year (not sure about no claims protection on this...)

I'm only 200 for a 2.4V6 A6 through Direct line, including business use.
don't forget to add someone else with a good driving history to the policy as it usually reduces it. Doesn't mean they have to use the car!

Try Privilege (think they're actually Direct Line).. plus use a site like QuidCo to get £70+ cashback on top..

Performance Direct insure both of my cars.
3,000 miles per year on one and 9000 miles on the other and both less than £500 per year.

Just renewed a 1.8 petrol hatch for £225 via Adrian Flux.
Can't recommend them enough - have renewed with them for over 5 years.
Each year I get comparitive quotes and go back to them and they always beat it and not by just a few quid - on this occassion by about £60.
Also, read this about the Post Office doing a deal at the moment.

elephant - always found them the least expensive.

I'm a bit distressed they've changed their mascot. Used to be an elephant with an elephantine figure. Now it is some 'dude' looking thing. I preferred the old one.
Life must be good if that's all I have to worry about this morning

I have done that - still had 2 accidents. 1 involving ice, 1 where someone pulled out in front (there was nowhere to swerve to - 40 mph zone - I was doing 30mph and NEARLY managed to stop).Originally posted by Addanc View PostTreat everybody on the roads like a fliping idiot is a good starting point; then a healthly dose of luck also helps.
