Be proactive. Delete that bit and insert your own clause along the lines of ;

you only give them exclusivity for a period of 48, 72, 96 hours (your choice) and if there is no confirmation of submission of your cv to the client, the period of exclusivity will be deemed to have expired and you are free to use another agency etc.

Anyone who agrees to an exclusivity deal preventing you being put forward by anyone else for 3 months or so must be mad. If they dont agree to your terms, dont sign theirs in desparation.

This is exactly what I do and I also caveat it with "...and in no way held on any kind of backup list to be sent later should the first submitted candidates not get the role"

Until the role is no longer being advertised, or any reasonable length of time has passed (as decided by the judge).

Most agencies when they put forward your details for a contract assignment include an exclusive authorisation clause in the introduction email to the effect that "you have not and will not give any entity, firm and/or agency the right to submit or represent my candidature in any way for this specified position mentioned above".

Anyone got any idea how long this auhorisation clause lasts?

Can't be the 3 to 12 months that they try and tie you down for an exclusion period after termination of a contract.
