Agree. Don't go into contracting off the back of a knee-jerk reaction. Hotel rooms look nice for all of about a week.

You factor in the benefits. Get a quote for Sickness Insurance - add that in. Are they currently paying into your pension? Add that in too. Then bump up the rate to account for the 4 weeks paid holiday you'll be losing. No not redundancy, can't take the current role I'm in anymore and fancy a change. To be honest if I get offered the other contract I'll probably go for it even if it does mean staying away.

A Fixed Term Contract includes holidays and the like as it's a short term permie contract but just has a pro-rata permie'ish rate. I expect this is the way they will go.
Find out the exact details and then you might be able to make a decision. No point floundering about on here when you don't even know what the score is.

Sounds like you should get all the facts first then. Are you taking redundancy by any chance? Sounds like your current employer is using you to test out a working model for cost reduction.

You moving to being a contractors saves them 13.8% in employers NI, plus they won't need to pay you holiday or sickness, or pension. So they make lots of savings, and you gain nothing - I can't imagine there will be lots of permies wanting to follow suit!
