    A bit of understanding of expense rules would have given you enough knowledge to answer this for yourself tbh. How about looking on Spareroom and bunking in with someone? Not for everyone I appreciate but land decent digs with decent people it could work out well.

    I think you would find it extremely difficult to justify the costs of the furniture as being wholly and exclusively for business. Although they might be justifiable for the initial 6 month period, you will then have all this furniture on your hands that is not required for your business.. this is where the problem arises.

    For the sake of a six month contract, it would be safer and more cost efficient to rent a furnished property.

    Unfortunately 'MPs do it' would not give you much of a defence in a HMRC enquiry either









    I understand there is a need for basic furniture.

    Suppose I rent an unfurnished mouse for 6 months as accommodation for the duration of a contract.

    Can I claim for the furniture that I would have to buy in order to live in it?
