FWIW ... I use Quay and, apart from them just putting up their prices ... have been very happy with the service provided.

I suppose at £55 a month it was too good to be true for too long.

    Thanks Pondlife...

Is that order in which you mention them have any relevance to one being better than the other?

Reply to malvolio and expat - I totally understand what you are saying but what is holding me back is knowing which company to go with and not just sign up to the first accountant conveyor-belt type service and realise I have made the wrong decision (as in they provide a poor service and have extra hidden costs). I suppose I shouldn't have put their rates down in my first post as they are all pretty much the same but what I was trying to highlight was that maybe one did have a slightly better service for the extra few pounds.

Average daily rate for "developer" skill (ITJobsWatch) = £434.
Daily difference between max & min of accountant costs quoted (20-day month) = £0.75.

    Does it matter that much?

Work that out, then if he charges more than that, he's too expensive.

Reply to Lucifer Box - Thanks for your reply. Found one or two more that I didn't know of and yes, I should have waited before setting up the company.

You seem to be focussing on the price. Bear in mind that all these accountants offer a reasonably non-personal, contractor conveyor-belt type service...

Try the highly unexpected search string "recommended accountants". That will give you the recommendations of this board.

Shame you went through the hassle of incorporating the company yourself though. Most decent accountants would have done it for you for free.

    started a topic Which accountant?

    Which accountant?

    Hi All

Apologies if this has been answered before but I haven't managed to find any threads relating to the following question.

I have also decided to go down the Ltd company route as it seems a much better option for me compared to an umbrella compnay. I have gone and registered a company name but now I need to get the rest setup and running (business bank account, vat registered and a decent accountant who can do all of the admin). Which accountancy firm would you recommend as I found a couple under the accountancy services directory on the Contractor UK site.

    SJD Accountancy
    £85 + Vat per month

    Quay Accountancy
    £66 + Vat per month

    Manager.co.uk
    £70 + Vat per month

or any others that I haven't mentioned.

Many thanks for your help in advanced.
Working...
