My advice: chase. My contrast didn't start for weeks while the enquiry was stuck in the system. Called up DBS, they freed it up and was at client within a week.Originally posted by minestrone View PostIt is not being able to start a contract for weeks while you wait on this coming through which rips my knickers.
Don't accept "it's ready when it's ready" from your agency

I've had this twice. Once my ltd paid for it, no problem.
The other time, my ltd paid for it and the client reimbursed my ltd. I just added it on to an invoice.
It is (thankfully) the most boring certificate I've ever had.

I have somehow secured this one six weeks before I'm done with the current one. Bit mad really.

Agent paid for mine the last two times I needed it.Originally posted by Chervil View PostNew client wants a basic check (ie equivalent of old crb I think). It's easy and only £25 so no probs.
I've searched through the forum a bit and seen a few discussions about it but wanted to check something (probably) very obvious I couldn't spot.
Is there any issue with my limited co paying for this for me? Seems entirely legit to me but if there's any hint of disagreement I'll just pay it myself.
Thanks all.

I've put Disclosure Scotland fees through the business twice in the last 18 or so months, the accountants are fine with it.

Hi Chervil,
In regards to the basic check, you could argue without this check, you would not be able to trade through your company.
Based on the cost of this being so low and the tax saving is tiny... HMRC are not likely to get too excited about this!
Providing the contract is in the business name and therefore why this check is required, I would suggest your Limited company pays for this.

Meets my definition of "wholly, exclusively and necessarily" so personally, I wouldn't hesitate in banging this through on expenses.Originally posted by Chervil View PostNew client wants a basic check (ie equivalent of old crb I think). It's easy and only £25 so no probs.

What's the worst that can happen ? Your accountant or someone else says you can't have it and you have to pay the tax on it.
