Security clearance

Hi,

Does anyone here now what the typical outcome is when you fill in the highest level (DV) forms? In other words, unless you have a criminal record, got caught with your hands in the till, some unaccounted for time abroad or an unusual family background, is it almost certain that you will eventually (4 months or so I believe!) be cleared? I did have this before but at a lower level about 9 years back.

So if you apply for DV they send along a sultry, huge-norked, abnormally flexible 16 year old to give you a quick once over????

Unfortunately, for us all, they don't actually send one of said nymphs 'round.

However, if this is the kind of thing you like, you could always hang around the bus station in West Brom with a couple of bottles of WKD or something of an equally ridiculous colour... It's almost a dead cert, or so I'm told :\

Developed Vetting (DV) is needed for the most sensitive appointments and tasks, involving long-term and uncontrolled access to TOP SECRET. A DV is the most comprehensive form of UK security vetting and is made up of the above BC and SC checks plus:

the completion of a DV supplement questionnaire;
a financial check;
the checking of references in writing, by telephone or by interview from personal friends, tutors and employers as appropriate;
a detailed interview with the person needing the clearance conducted by a vetting officer.
If you are DV cleared and think, either now or in the future, that your job does not involve the level of access appropriate for a DV post, you should discuss this with your line manager. DVs are first reviewed after five years and every seven years if there is a continuing need.

Aftercare: As well as initiating and reviewing clearances, we sometimes need to follow up concerns that arose during the vetting process (although clearance may be granted) or were subsequently reported to the DVA. This is known as Aftercare and can arise in connection with all types of clearances.

OK, thanks to SS and EO. I am looking forward to the young ladies visit ;-) . I found all this info and more on various sites by doing a Google but what they do not say is the 'success rate'.

However, perhaps I did not phrase it clearly but what I am wondering is does anyone know of or heard of someone failing this check?

I knew some one who went through this abount 4 years ago, the most important thing is that your references are consistant.

He faild because a friend lied over something very minor. Seems the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the trurh will do.

This is the sort of thing I need to know.

So as I understand it, this referee did not give the true storey about something that the investigation checks found out about by some other means? have I got that right?

I can't think why this could happen to me, but well worth knowing anyway thanks.
